Do you have non-allergic bedding?

We certainly do. Please request this when you book your room with our reservations team.

 

Can I hire out the venue for a private party or wedding?

We have a private dining room that can hold up to 25 guests for a sit down meal. This is an ideal space for all kinds of celebrations! As the building is spread over several rooms it is not conducive for large wedding parties. However, we want to help you in any way we can and would love to talk to you about the options.

 

Can I book a table in the bar?

The bar is often very busy at the weekends and we do not reserve tables. Please get in touch with us about your event and we will see how we can accommodate.

 

Can I decorate my party table before my guests arrive?

Absolutely!

 

How many people do I need to use the Chef's Table?

The Chef's Table can seat 12 guests. We highly encourage you to bring everyone you know to fill the space and experience the best seats in the house. However, if it's just a few of you that is fine too, although you may not have the space exclusively.

 

Can I bring my dog to The Northgate?

The Chestnut Group are dog lovers. They are welcome to accompany you on our fabulous 300msq terrace but we do not allow our four legged friends into the house.

 

Do you have high chairs and baby changing?

Yes. 

 

What kind of food does The Northgate serve?

Join us for a full English breakfast, a morning bacon sandwich, a light lunch or a brasserie style menu in the evening.

 

Do you take reservations?

We reserve tables in our dining room and on our Chef’s table. For tables over 10 we require a pre-order, which can be discussed with a member of our reservations team.

 

Can we just pop in for a drink?

Absolutely, we highly encourage it!

 

Is the terrace open for coffees/afternoon drinks?

Yes! Come and enjoy our terrace anytime of the day.

 

Are there vegetarian dishes?

Yes, we have a varied menu with plenty of choice for vegetarians and our Chef is more than happy to accommodate any special dietary requirements.

 

At what time does your kitchen close?

Monday through to Saturday our Kitchen closes at 9.30pm and on a Sunday 8.30pm.

 

Do you have any gift vouchers?

We do! We have Chestnut gift vouchers that can be redeemed at any of our venues and they come in denominations of £25, £50 and £100. They can be purchased at reception or on the Chestnut Group website www.chestnutgroup.co.uk

 

Where can guests park?

We have 14 spaces in our car park at the back of the house as well as 5 spaces at the front of the house. If we’re full, the large public Ram Meadow car park is less than 5 minutes walk away.

 

What time do you serve dinner?

Our dinner service starts at 6.30pm and finishes at 9.30pm. As we have an ‘all day’ menu you can get a bite to eat throughout day.

 

Dress code?

We do not have a specific dress code and want you to feel relaxed.  

 

How many bedrooms does The Northgate have?

We have 10 bedrooms. The 10th room is a family room, which has a small twin room adjoining a double.

 

How far to the centre of town?

At a slow relaxed pace it takes about 5 minutes to get to the centre of town. We are very close to all the amenities. If you require any information please ask our reception team for maps and tips!

 

What about large parties?

Give us a call and we will talk to you about all the options for large parties. Our Club Room holds up to 25 people for a sit down supper.

 

What are your check-in and check-out times?

Check in 3pm, check out 11am. Early check in and check out is available subject to availability. We will endeavor to cater for this with prior notice.

 

Do you have late night access?

Guests have keys to access the front door and bedroom doors. If the front door is locked after the last member of staff has left (1am weekdays and 2-3am weekends approx) residents can use the front door key to access the property. There is also an emergency telephone number for guests for nighttime emergencies when a team member is not in the building. When there are no members of staff on site, the bar area and conservatory area are closed to residents.

 

Do you have disabled access?

There is a small step to the rear and side of the property. We have a portable disabled ramp that can be used when required. Please contact reception prior to arrival.

The restaurant and Club Room have accessible door widths for standard and electronic wheelchairs. We also have a disabled toilet downstairs.

One team member at The Northgate is trained in level one sign language and large print menus available upon request prior to arrival.

 

Where is the nearest train station or bus station?

The nearest Train station is about a 10-minute walk away. The address is Station Hill, Bury St Edmunds. IP32 6AD.

The nearest bus station is also about a 10-minutes walk. The address is St Andrew's Street, Bury St Edmunds.

 

Do you have a brochure?

We have a welcome booklet for residents in the room that gives information about The Northgate. It covers basic questions such as dining times, WiFi access and local points of interest.
